‘…truly, it changed my life’ - Paul MacInnes, The Guardian, Jan 2008
What started as a seemingly impossible idea to start a music festival in a little known African country called Malawi has over the last five years evolved into one of the most talked about events in the global calendar.
From the very first beat that echoed along the shore of the shimmering Lake Malawi in September 2004 to growing into a project now recognised the world over, the Lake of Stars Festival now looks forward to October 2009 for its sixth return to a fascinating, inspiring and challenging country.
LoS raises money for local charities and unities musicians from around the world for three days and nights of incredible music under sun-kissed and star-speckled skies. Bands, solo singers, DJs, performers and more converge with people from all over Africa and the Western world for a festival that is truly unique in a beautiful and enchanting country. It also opens up Malawi itself, filled with long golden beaches, stunning scorched red vistas and mountainous terrain, dotted with sprawling cities and towns, filled with adventure and fun at every turn in what still remains a largely untouched part of Africa.
“A crazy and illuminated group roaming ragged, beatific and
beautiful in an ugly graceful new way…”
